The Eleusinian Mysteries
Throughout the Ages, people have been fascinated by the Eleusinian Mysteries, and many have shied away from the seeming complexity of recreating them.
There have been many attempts at Greek Mysteries called "Eleusis," ranging from Crowley's "Rites of Eleusis" to modern day Wiccan mysteries involving the Mother, Maiden and Crone under the guise of Persephone, Demeter and Hekate. Few have come near to the actual meaning of the Eleusinian Mysteries, which were not merely a celebration of the feminine splendor of Earth and her cycles, but a process of initiation by which the initiate comes to understand the meaning of death, and seizes a vision of his or her own rebirth, just as Persephone, and indeed, the whole world, experiences rebirth after death in the procession of seasons.
In short, there is no substitute for authenticity, and there is no substitute for being true to the context out of which these Mysteries spring.
While we claim no ties to any religious organization, it is our Order's aim to bring to initiates the most authentic renditions of the Western traditons, and the tradition of Greek Mysticism is a formidable one indeed. Our mysteries are constantly evolving and being refined as new findings come to light.
If you are a mystically inclined, an open-minded Hellenic pagan, or a Hermeticist with a great love for the Classics, please contact us about ways in which you can contribute.
