What is the Celestial Academy?
The Academy on High, as described by the Zohar, is a gathering place in the celestial regions where the angels go to study magic, mankind, and the nature of the universe. It is our aim for our order to serve as a proper vessel to receive this influx of divine wisdom.
Who We Are
The Order of the Celestial Academy is a fraternal order which teaches the most ancient traditions of the Western Mysteries. We believe that the development of the Western Mysteries did not cease 100 years ago. Our focus as an order is threefold: research, teaching, and outreach. We seek not only to improve ourselves and society through ceremonial magic, but also through charity and education. We seek not only to be of service to our members, but to the communities in which we live.
Self-Mastery
While we hold our initiates to high standards of academic achievement, we feel that there is more to being an Adept than theory and practice. We seek to instill a sense of discipline, moral courage, and ethics in our students which will aide them not only in their pursuit of knowledge and spiritual attainment, but also in their everyday lives.
Our Magical Philosophy
Man is created in the image of the Divine, and so is the universe. As change within the self is possible through magic, so is change in the universe. Change in the physical universe should not be sought for its own sake, but rather as a confirmation of our understanding and mastery over ourselves. Nonetheless, not all magic happens on the astral, though the astral is one aspect of the universe to be mastered. Magic, done properly, has a very real effect on the physical world.
Our Political and Ethical Philosophy
We strive in every matter to behave ethically and morally, which means that we treat our members fairly, honestly, openly, and with respect. We believe in democracy, tolerance, and equality. We will never ask our members to do anything which conflicts with their religious, family or civil obligations, or ask them to worship a divinity in whom they do not believe.
Membership Requirements
We are looking for bright, motivated students who are serious about applying themselves to the study of the esoteric sciences. This means not only learning what is in the grade material we give, but also doing one's own research, and forming one's own opinions. We are looking for good magicians, good scholars, and above all else, good people. You should have well developed ideas about morality and ethics, and a clear idea about who you are before you commit yourself to the study of the occult within our order.
